Secured solo work from Klöntalersee to Netstal.

Next time you go swimming or hiking at the idyllic Klöntalersee, don't just look at the wonderful reflections of the mountains, but also take a look through the energy glasses. The natural lake, which was originally created by a subsidence and rockfall, was dammed up with an earthfill dam to form an impressive reservoir. Situated at 848 m above sea level in the canton of Glarus, it stretches over 5 km in length and covers an area of around 3.3 km².

The Klöntalersee is part of the hydroelectric power plant on the Löntsch, whose headquarters are in Netstal. This high-pressure storage power plant, which was built between 1905 and 1908 and renovated in 2016, uses a catchment area of 83 km² and supplies around 119 GWh of electricity per year. An overflow tower and two cone-jet gates, each with a flow capacity of 23.5 m³/s, prevent the dam from flooding during high water.

Many plants are underground and GPS tracking is not possible. From the surge chamber with the safety butterfly valve via the cable duct to the ball valves of the power plant, in the switchgear in the substation or the control center - working alone is unavoidable. Over 100 Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons and the Uepaa app ensure safety and pinpoint localization in the event of accidents. Once these beacons have been programmed and placed correctly, they send valuable information about the zone, areas, floors, i.e. the current work zones, to the Uepaa app. Even if the GPS signal has been lost for a long time.
