The unexpected side of foresters: more than just lumberjacks in the forest.

Hidden in the shadows of the mighty trees is a world full of secrets and adventures that can only be experienced by those who delve deep enough into the forest. But while many see the foresters only as those who wield the saw with a powerful arm, a closer look reveals a fascinating reality.

On the one hand, there is the profession of qualified forester HF and the profession of forest warden EFZ. Forest wardens are those who fell trees outside, maintain the forest and work by hand. Foresters are responsible for planning and operational management. They also have sovereign tasks, including marking trees and advising forest owners.

The city's own forestry operation run by Ruben Menzi, Uster's municipal forester, not only looks after the felling of trees, but also the interests of nature, agriculture, forestry, hunting and the local population. The Uepaa app is needed, for example, when marking trees or recording timber for sale. Although his forestry team of forest wardens are not allowed to fell trees alone, the app is still used as an additional safety measure when working alone. However, the foreman is also sometimes out and about alone with the machine and should be protected.
