...with new generosity
The size and resolution of the displays has increased significantly since the app was launched in 2013. Although the app scaled accordingly, it was obviously not optimized for larger displays. The look and feel should be fresher, more spacious and more modern compared to the old app.
The new dashboard with the map in the center is the heart of the app and makes the entire functionality of the app accessible. The most important buttons are large and easily accessible with the thumb.
The command center created in this way with the alarm chain, daily emergency contact, the three security checks and the emergency call center creates a better overview for users and will also allow us to bring the most important features to the lock and home screen in a conceptually and visually stringent manner as widgets and live activities in the future.
All in all, the app shines with new simplicity and clarity following the redesign. Distractions and frippery have been deliberately avoided - especially in the event of an emergency. The instructions and UX writing in the app have also been optimized for clarity and stringent user guidance.
...with new typography
The "Avenir Next Condensed" font used was modern 10 years ago and matched the corporate identity of Uepaa AG as an end-user application. For use in the B2B sector as a work safety tool, legibility is more important. That is why we now use the "San Francisco" and "Roboto" system fonts, which have been trimmed for legibility by the tech giants Apple and Google. The Uepaa house font "Uni Sans Semibold zum" is also used selectively, which strengthens the visual identity of Uepaa and the app.
..with contemporary UI elements
A slider that can be easily operated with one hand is now used to activate the safety checks, to alert the emergency call center or to accept assistance from a companion.
...with proven color concept and new countdowns
Green, orange and red provide the user with information on whether everything is OK, action is required or the emergency call center is/is being alerted. These three colors are supplemented by a neutral Uepaa blue, which is used for neutral states.
For example, if the user navigates from the new dashboard to one of the three safety checks and activates one by swiping to the right, the entire bottomsheet changes to the active state (green). This new generosity also applies when the user is prompted to act (orange) or an alarm is sent to the emergency center (red). Activated security checks are clearly recognizable as such on the dashboard by the active status with countdown.
...with easier initial contact for users
We have also streamlined the onboarding process. The few queries that still need to be answered or approved by the user are the minimum required to ensure safety when working alone. The new "See Through" tutorial informs the user about all the functionalities presented on the dashboard after the deliberately dry onboarding.
