From Switzerland to the world - or even to Mars. Maxon Switzerland is a supplier of precision small motors and drive systems. However, the company, headquartered in Sachseln, Canton Obwalden, develops and manufactures more than just any DC motors. On February 18, 2012, NASA's Perseverance rover landed on Mars, one of the most complex robotic systems ever built by humans. Several electric drives from Maxon were used to handle the soil samples and control the first Mars helicopter.

To ensure that everything works on Mars and, of course, in every other product, maxon Switzerland AG has its own test laboratories in which the drive systems are subjected to the toughest tests. For example, the components are tested for high vibrations, extreme temperatures and pressure loads as well as brutal g-forces and impact loads. Despite the large number of colleagues, it is not always possible to ensure visual and call contact, be it during noise measurements, motor tests, in the magnetization room or in the many laboratories and assembly departments where lone working is common.
